Movie Review: Date Night

Poster

My Rating: 3Stars

This evening I saw the movie Date Night at AMC Cinemas, Pacific Place, Admiralty, Hong Kong. One of the movies from my Must See Movies list.

This is a cops and robbers story with a nice twist. The main characters are mistaken for the robbers when in fact they are just a boring suburban couple (“The Fosters”) played by Steve Carell and Tina Fey. The Maxwell Smart character of Get Smart that Carell played in 2008 was all over the Phil Foster character. Don’t get me wrong it was the perfect way to play the Foster character.

Fey was her usual self, funny and quick on her toes. From the outtakes at the end of the movie during credits, you will see that many of her character’s, Claire Foster, lines were ad libs. Which made them more natural. The director/editor choose the best versions for the movie.

The relatively veteran of the movie: Mark Wahlberg, William Fichtner and James Franco, all played minor supporting roles.

If you’re looking for a movie to entertain you, gives you some laughs and tears then this is the one to watch.
